ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) service is based on permanent and fast Internet access through an existing telephone line (twisted pair cable), so that the line is not occupied or the telephone number changed. Traditional Internet access using classic dial-up modem (28.8, 33.6 or 56K) occupies your telephone line, so when you are on the Internet you can't receive or make telephone calls. With ADSL, your PC is always on-line, and the telephone line is available for receiving and making telephone calls or faxing. Internet access using ADSL does not affect your telephone bill, and at the end of the month you receive two separate bills. Both services function independently, although they are using the same twisted pair cable (pair of wires).
ADSL service supports all existing protocols ICQ, SMTP, HTTP, FTP, TFTP. Telnet, RealAudio, Counter Strike, Cu-SeeMe, QUAKE, VDO, ...
